Ep. 61 - Sexual Freedom Philosopher: Nicolle Hodges

Today we are joined by the fabulous Nicolle Hodges. She’s a Sexual Freedom Philosopher, an author, and a journalist (just to name a few titles). Pretty much Nicolle is "the Dr. Seuss of sex." She’s the founder of GIRLS WHO SAY FUCK , the creator of MEN WHO TAKE BATHS and the force behind the T-shirt campaign to "rebrand virginity to Sexual Debut". Nicolle is a former television personality for CTV Vancouver, which included reporting from Lesbos, Greece where she started an art camp for kids at the peak of the refugee crisis. She is also the former media consultant for the United Nations Women advisory committee in Vancouver and currently takes on the role of a lifestyle domme for a few lucky subs. This episode unpacks a ton of interesting topics: What do the terms “masculine “ and “feminine “ mean to you? What is it like coming out to the world as bisexual? What is a lifestyle domme? While harmful, incorrect stigmas sadly surround the sex industry, Danica and Riley trust that using their podcast platform to share their own experiences and give a voice to others along the way, they can give “outsiders” a glimpse of the real world of adult entertainment and show everyone that they can own their sexuality proudly (and sometimes even profit off of it)!

About your hosts

Danica

Danica is a sarcastic, straightforward, sex-postive feminist with a passion for topics that some may consider “taboo.” With a psychology degree under her belt, a public speaker/ university guest lecturer, a devoted sex workers advocate and a successful career as an exotic dancer - she knows some stuff!

Danica lives her life by two philosophies: 1) it’s better to have a life of “oh well”s than “what if”s and 2) be unapologetically you! Her years of experience as a sex worker have given her a passion and drive to do what she can to eliminate the dangerous stigma that currently surrounds the sex industry. She is confident that sharing her stories as an active sex worker can do just that - show women (and men) that they can own their sexuality proudly (and sometimes even profit off of it)!

Riley

Riley is a down-to-earth, career dancer with over seven years in the industry. Originally from New Zealand and now based in Canada, her path began as a topless poker dealer and quickly grew into a dynamic career as an exotic dancer, dominatrix, and cam model. With a degree in statistics and currently pursuing a bookkeeping certificate, Riley plans to use her education to help others in the industry navigate their finances while challenging the stigma that surrounds sex work. A lifelong learner with a love for travel, she sees her career not just as a job, but as a platform to advocate, educate, and celebrate the freedom of owning one’s sexuality.
